Blog Boy-
Candlesticks Ahoy!
The Following was transcribed from recordings.
Pre Garage Sale
Pre Garage Sale
Amber: Ok this is our first
before 8 oclock but I think we're gonna see everybody doing this.
Mary Kay: Yep this is the first time
we've been out leaving the house at 7 and we're WAY out in the
country but we are seeing lots of cars approaching this garage sale.
Oh look at this one!
Amber: Yeah “I brake for garage
sales!”
Mary Kay: ha ha yeah. So I'm looking
for a little plastic organizer type thing with drawers and heh some
other stuff that I can't remember. So Amber what are you looking for?
Amber: I'm looking for treasure, I
don't know yet but I'll know it when I see it.
Mary Kay: Alright.
Between Garage Sales
Mary Kay: Okay so what did you get
Amber?
Amber: I got a table, a little desk
chair, and a wrought iron candle holder.
Mary Kay: And how much did you spend?
Amber: $19
Mary Kay: Great! Did you have to
negotiate for any of that?
Amber: He wanted... Oh my goodness
theres a sale over here!
Mary Kay: Ha ha ha!
Amber: Sorry!
Mary Kay: I know howd that happen?
Amber: Is that what that is?
Mary Kay: Yes it's definitely a sale...
Ha Ha Ha!
Amber: Sorry I cant talk while I'm-
driving.
Mary Kay: We'll get back to this.
Post Garage Sale
Mary Kay: Ok Amber what'd you get?
Amber: I got some funky iron
candlesticks that I can put on my outdoor patio.
Mary Kay: Which got my hands all dirty
you should know.
Amber: Yeah mine too, and two funky
mirrors for my bathroom, and my total price was $25 which was a steal
considering he wanted 20 for the candlesticks and 6 each for the
mirrors.
Mary Kay: Well done well done.
Amber: I was expecting to pay 30, I
would have payed 30.
Mary Kay: I spent 10 and I got three
little wooden stars that you can use to hang things on like keys or a
towel or something, and I got a little red ceramic boot thats so
cute, it looks like the boots that I love to wear, and- (What else
did I get?) Oh! A lovely box for my husband cause he loves boxes, and
I got one more thing but I don't know what it was. Now at the
previous garage sale I got the cutest little backgammon set it's in
perfect condition.
Amber: Oh
Mary Kay: Oh and by the way I spent $10
there and the one we were just at I spent about 20 and I got a canopy
that you can put up for shade in the yard or on a beach or wherever
which is worth probably $100 I got it great, and I got two decks of
playing cards that look like they've hardly been used and they have
artists and paintings on them. Oh you don't know which way to go?
Amber: Yeah um...
Mary Kay: I think we came from that
way.
Amber: Yeah I think so.
Mary Kay: So anyway I think that will
be great to have at my school because the kids can play cards in
their downtime and also be learning about artists.
Amber: Ok making a right turn, and then
this way?
Mary Kay: I don't know... uh yeah it
sounds right because of the way the signs are.
Amber: We need a navigator AND a
videographer.
Mary Kay: Well can you tell us where
were going cause uh... uh no you don't want to go north, nope. Heh.
We want to go south, and I could put it on my GPS but then I'd have
to turn off my recorder. So anyway, what else did I get at that
garage sale?
Amber: Your canopy that was amazing.
Mary Kay: I got that, Oh! Two little
books about scary stories that my grandsons gonna love 50 cents each.
Amber: Let me interrupt what you
bought, I'm a little nervous cause I feel like were buying garage
sale items from people who overbought garage sale items. Have you
noticed that?
Mary Kay: Ha Ha Ha!
Amber: I'm serious because that lady
was saying “I bought these two tables so I could do something with
em and I never did, I bought em from a garage sale,” and it's like
she was saying you do it now.
Mary Kay: Don't worry the stuff that
I'm getting will be used.
Amber: Oh mine will be used I'm just
saying that this could lead down a slippery slope.
Mary Kay: Yeah well I think you have to
be careful and always always when you buy something picture where
it's going in your house or who your giving it to if its a gift. And
I have a brand new classroom to outfit so that's where my stuffs
going.
Amber: Well I have an antique hall to
outfit so yeah...
Mary Kay: I actually think I'm going to
use my star hangers in my own bathroom in my new classroom, and I'm
going to put them in there so I can hang a spare shirt in case I get
my shirt dirty, or maybe a sweater, something like that. How do you
feel about that Amber?
Amber: I think that's great, did you
hear that lady offering me the round candles?
Mary Kay: yeah
Amber: Do you think she was gonna give
them to me? That's why I was being all weird about them because I
didn't want to BUY round candles from her.
Mary Kay: Well next time that happens
ask how much she wants for them and that will let you see if she is
giving them away.
Amber: Think it's gonna happen again
where someones gonna offer me round candles?
Mary Kay: Yes I think thats going to
happen in that exact way.
Amber: I need some candles because I've
got all these candlesticks now.
